BY ANNUAL TRAINING DAY OF SAPPER OFFICERS UNVEILED AT THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE - CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

Under the guidance of Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, and as per the stipulated instructions of Army Headquarters, Officers Training Day and a Diners Club were successfully hosted on Wednesday, 04th June 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The day commenced with an invigorating Physical Training Session with Aerobic Exercise, setting the tone for a disciplined and energetic programme. This was followed by Drills at the Parade Ground, including Foot and Sword Drills, emphasizing precision and teamwork of Officers.

The day was enriched with informative lecture sessions, where specially qualified officers delivered insightful presentations on Mine Detection Dogs (MDD), Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD), and War Dogs. Additionally, a highly significant lecture on Officers’ Career Progression within the military provided valuable insights into structured career paths and professional development opportunities, in line with the recently published Army Orders.

The evening reached its pinnacle with a Diners’ Club event, where Major General Lanka Amarapala delivered a compelling and inspirational lecture on ‘Right Path and Officering’. His lecture eloquently encompassed the core pillars of leadership, discipline, and character, leaving a profound impact on the audience. With powerful reflections and personal insights, he ignited a renewed sense of purpose among aspiring officers, urging them to uphold the highest standards and walk the noble path of military professionalism.

In conclusion, the Sapper Officers’ Training Day stood as a testament to the Corps’ continued commitment to developing capable and well-rounded officers. The event not only reinforced essential military competencies but also fostered a deeper sense of purpose and professionalism among all participants—strengthening the foundation for a more effective and visionary officer cadre within the Sri Lanka Army. A total of 102 Sapper Officers, including Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Regimental Council members, senior officers and officers actively participated in the day’s events.
