MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc VISITS 11 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, conducted an official visit to the 11 Field Engineer Regiment located in Nawatkuli, Jaffna, on 29th April.

Upon arrival, Major General Lanka Amarapala was warmly received by the Commanding Officer of the 11 Field Engineer Regiment, Major DMRC Dunusinghe psc SLE. The visit commenced with a formal Guard Turnout, followed by the ceremonial planting of a sapling to mark the occasion.

The Colonel Commandant was then briefed by the Commanding Officer on the regiment’s current operational and administrative commitments. During his address to the officers, Major General Lanka Amarapala emphasized the Army’s ongoing transformation and highlighted the importance of self-respect, leadership responsibility, and regular performance reviews of subordinates. He also encouraged full participation in the government's "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative.

A group photograph was taken to commemorate the visit, followed by an address to all ranks. In his speech, Major General Lanka Amarapala reiterated the importance of discipline, professionalism, and adherence to proper financial procedures. He emphasized the need for effective drug prevention measures and continuous, rigorous training to maintain the Army’s high standards. He also highlighted the significance of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative and the vital role each soldier plays in its success.

The Colonel Commandant then conducted a detailed inspection of the camp premises, with particular focus on the welfare facilities available to the soldiers. During the inspection, he took the opportunity to engage with officers, other ranks, and civil staff, further strengthening morale and camaraderie. He also visited the 112 Squadron at Sangupiddy.

The visit concluded with the Colonel Commandant signing the Visitors’ Book at the Officers’ Mess. Major General Lanka Amarapala expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and commended the 11 Field Engineer Regiment for its dedicated service to the nation.

Brigadier F Joseph USP, Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, and Colonel TM Piros Jalal, Colonel – Projects, Field Engineer Brigade, also attended the day’s programme.
