OFFICIAL VISIT OF MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc TO THE 10 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT IN JAFFNA PENINSULA

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, undertook an official visit to the 10 Field Engineer Regiment in Myladdi, Jaffna, on Wednesday, 30th April.

Upon arrival, Major RRLD Rathnayake USP psc SLE, the Commanding Officer of the 10 Field Engineer Regiment, welcomed the Colonel Commandant. A ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented in honour of the visiting senior officer.

The visit commenced with the ceremonial planting of a sapling by the Colonel Commandant, symbolizing environmental commitment and sustainability. This was followed by a comprehensive briefing by the Commanding Officer on the regiment's operational role and key responsibilities within its Area of Responsibility, highlighting its strategic importance.

Major General Lanka Amarapala then addressed all ranks, emphasising that discipline remains the cornerstone of military excellence. He reminded troops that they are the true embodiment of the Army’s strength and honour. Encouraging resilience, he urged them to face challenges with determination, noting that adversity often paves the way for future success. Reinforcing national goals, the Colonel Commandant endorsed the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, calling on the troops to lead by example in promoting environmental stewardship. He emphasized the Army’s influential role in inspiring wider community engagement in national development efforts.

Following his address, Major General Lanka Amarapala engaged in a cordial interaction with all ranks during a formal tea hosted by the regiment, fostering unity and dialogue in a spirit of fellowship. He then inspected the camp facilities, paying particular attention to the living conditions of the soldiers and overall welfare standards.

Concluding the visit, the Colonel Commandant signed the Visitors’ Book and posed for a group photograph with the officers, marking a memorable occasion for the regiment. The visit was also attended by Brigadier F Joseph USP, Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, and Colonel T.M. Piros Jalal, Colonel (Project), Field Engineer Brigade.
