OFFICIAL VISIT OF MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc TO THE SRI LANKA SCHOOL OF MILITARY ENGINEERING

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc conducted an official visit to the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) in Embilipitiya, which took place on Thursday, 12th June 2025. Upon his arrival, he was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout and warmly welcomed by Colonel J A C S Jagoda psc, the Commandant of SLSME.

As part of his visit, Major General Lanka Amarapala ceremonially opened the newly established Field Engineering Model Room. This facility is designed to enhance both practical and theoretical learning experiences for Sapper Officers and Other Ranks undergoing field engineering training at the SLSME. It is expected to significantly improve the institution’s ability to meet the evolving demands of combat engineering skills.

He also declared open the newly constructed Badminton Court, a reflection of SLSME’s commitment to encouraging physical fitness and recreational activities among its Officers and Other Ranks. This initiative reinforces the importance of overall well-being and morale within the military environment. This was followed by a sapling was planted to mark the significance of the official visit.

A tea session was later held, during which Major General Lanka Amarapala warmly interacted with all ranks. This cordial engagement fostered unity, openness, and mutual respect among all present.

In line with the programme, the Commandant of SLSME delivered a comprehensive briefing to the Colonel Commandant, outlining recent improvements in infrastructure and training enhancement that have taken place within a relatively short period of time.

By addressing to the troops, Major General Lanka Amarapala emphasized the importance of safeguarding institutional assets and aligning with the national “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative. He encouraged all ranks to contribute actively to environmental sustainability, ethical responsibility, and the efficient management of resources, which are essential components in building a secure and prosperous future for the nation.

To conclude his visit, Major General Lanka Amarapala recorded his thoughts and commendations in the SLSME Visitors’ Book. He acknowledged the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by Commandant and staff in elevating the institution to higher standards.
