SLAOC Seva Vanitha Ladies Offer Alms to Seelawathie Mother Memorial Elders Home

In coordination with the annual Seva Vanitha event plan of the Army Ordnance Corps, Army Ordnance Industries (AOI) collaborated with members of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps Seva Vanitha Branch (SLAOC-SVB) to arrange a religious programme on Monday (25 September) for residents at Seelawathie Mother Memorial Elders’ Home, Veyangoda.

This initiative was carried out under the guidance of Mrs. Banduni Magret Ranasin Ranawaka, the Chairperson, SLAOC-SVB and was supervised by the Colonel Commandant, the Centre Commandant, and the Commandant of Army Ordnance Industries.

The event was attended by Mrs. Renuka Jayarathne, and the members of the Ordnance Seva Vanitha Branch, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

The programme began with a meaningful and traditional alms-giving ceremony. As the first part of the event, AOI troops engaged in a voluntary clean-up of the elders' home premises. The day continued with arrangements for the elders to participate in a ‘Buddha Pooja’ followed by the offering of alms to the monks.

Members of SLAOC-SVB also took part in making these offerings. The venerable monks then bestowed blessings upon the Colonel Commandant, the Chairperson, SLAOC-SVB, and all the dedicated members of the Ordnance Regiment for their future endeavours. Subsequently, members of SLAOC-SVB provided meals to the elders and donated essential sanitary items and dry rations to the home.
