The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps - Seva Vanitha Branch (SLAC - SVB) recently held its 25th Annual General Meeting on 24 March 2024 at the Cavalry Officers Mess, Rock House Camp, where Mrs Samangika Fernando, the Chairperson of SLAC - SVB, graced the event as the chief guest.
The meeting was marked by generous gestures, with five soldiers from each unit receiving Rs 350,000 in monetary assistance to complete their half-built houses. Moreover, 123 civilian employees were provided with dry ration packs worth over Rs 7,500. These contributions were made possible through funds raised during the SINGALONG 2023 fundraising event organized by the SLAC - SVB. Moreover, Lance Corporal A.B.T Madhusanka Kumara of 3 SLAC, who is undergoing medical treatment at ‘Ranaviru Sevana – Ragama’, was gifted a wheelchair by the ‘Buddhist Association’ in Singapore, coordinated by Mrs. Thalatha Upulmalee Premathilaka.
The event also featured an insightful lecture conducted by Major A. Kariyawasam of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps on 'How to Obtain Passive Income,'. The meeting further included dance performances by the Army dance troupe, followed by a comedy segment by the renowned duo Janai Priyai, adding a touch of entertainment to the occasion.
