Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Indian Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) and the spouse of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army, together with the spouses of Diplomatic Representatives of Sri Lanka to India, had a cordial meeting with Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), at the official residence of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army on 07 January 2026.
Following the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation proceeded on a visit to Mihindu Seth Medura, Attidiya, where disabled soldiers are provided with residential care and treatment.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received by Mrs. Lilanti Dolage, Vice President of the ASVU. The Sri Lanka Army Cultural Dance Troupe ceremonially escorted the visitors to the rehabilitation facility.
During the visit, the President of AWWA and the delegation inquired into the wellbeing of the resident war heroes and distributed gift packs containing essential items. The visitors also engaged in cordial interactions with the soldiers, contributing to their emotional wellbeing and morale. Thereafter, Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi penned complimentary remarks in the visitors’ book.
Members of the Executive Committee of the ASVU, Brigadier R.G.L.K. Weerakoon RWP RSP, Director of the Directorate of Veterans’ Affairs and Rehabilitation, senior officers, officers, inmates and their spouses were present at the occasion.
