Renovated Facility at National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases Vested in Authorities

Extending support for the welfare of the communities in the country, renovation work at the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases, Welisara was completed under the coordination of Dr. Rasika Perera, President of the Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit.

Accordingly, the renovated building was vested in the hospital authorities on 12 January 2026 by Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit.

Following the ceremony, with the participation of the Chairperson, an inspection visit was carried out at Ward No. 06. Subsequently, donations were made comprising two mobile UV light disinfection units (Large), two mobile UV light disinfection units (Small), five ceiling-mounted UV light disinfection units, 50 full-face protective masks without ventilation, 47 white bed sheets, 47 white pillowcases and 47 pillows. In addition, an amount exceeding Rs. 2.3 million for the renovation was donated by philanthropists.

Appreciation Letters were presented in recognition of the services rendered by the troops of 1 Engineer Services Regiment and 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry who carried out the renovation work.
