School Supplies and Uniforms Distributed for Needy Children of Sri Lanka National Guard Soldiers

In response to the challenges faced by families affected by the recent Cyclone ‘Ditwah’, the Sri Lanka National Guard Army Seva Vanitha Branch (SLNG-SVB) conducted a special welfare initiative to support the education of the children of soldiers. As part of this programme, 145 students from Grades 6 to 13 were identified as beneficiaries. A symbolic distribution ceremony for 28 selected children was held on 18 January 2026 at the auditorium of Regimental Center Sri Lanka National Guard.

The event was held under the patronage of Mrs. Kumarie Pallekumbura, the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka National Guard Seva Vanitha Branch. The initiative was organised under the guidance of Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander of Security Forces (East) and the Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka National Guard with the active contribution of members of the Seva Vanitha Branch and the support of several senior officers of the Regiment.

Each child received a donation parcel containing essential school supplies and a school uniform to assist their educational needs and overall well-being. The event was graced by the Colonel of the Regiment, Executive Committee Members and other members of the SLNG -SVB, the Deputy Centre Commandant, as well as senior and junior staff Officers of the Regimental Centre.
