The Special Forces Seva Vanitha Branch (SF-SVB) organised an ‘Abhayadana’ (saving animals from slaughter) programme in line with Poson Full Moon Poya Day on 28 June 2026 at the Special Forces Regimental Centre, under the guidance of Mrs. Vindya Welenawewa, Chairperson of the SF-SVB.
During the programme, ten dairy cows were saved from slaughter and subsequently distributed to six selected families of Special Forces personnel. This noble endeavor was made possible through the generous financial sponsorship of renowned local philanthropist, Mr. Rohana Wellage.
Major General W.B.M.K.G.K. Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP AUSWC psc, General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment of Special Forces, members of the SF-SVB, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and their family members also participated in the event.
