The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), under the guidance of Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, President of ASVU, organised a special welfare programme for the resident children of the Wajira Sri Boys’ Child Development Centre on 20 July 2026 as part of its ongoing welfare initiatives.
As part of the initiative, 50 resident boys received gift packs containing clothing and other essential items. In addition, an electrically powered water pump was donated to the Centre to restore the functionality of its existing well, providing a long-term solution to its water supply issue.
Following the donation programme, lunch was served to the resident children. The occasion was further enlivened by Calypso music performances presented by the Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts, adding a cheerful atmosphere to the event.
Venerable Dr. Hunupalagama Wajira Sri Nayaka Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Wajira Sri Boys’ Child Development Centre, senior officers, officers, and other ranks participated in the event.
