The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch (GW-SVB) conducted a welfare assistance programme at the Club House, Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Panagoda on 23 July 2026 under the guidance of Mrs Nimali Kodithuwakku, Chairperson of GW-SVB.
During the programme, financial assistance amounting to Rs 100,000.00 was provided to a retired Senior Non Commissioned Officer as medical support following a heart surgery, which incurred expenses of approximately Rs 700,000.00.
In addition, a sewing machine valued at Rs 60,000.00 was donated to the wife of a Non Commissioned Officer to support her self-employment tailoring venture and enhance the family's livelihood. Furthermore, an essential dry ration pack worth Rs 15,000.00 was provided to a retired GW personnel to assist with his family's day-to-day requirements.
The initiative reflects the GW-SVB’s continued commitment towards extending welfare support and improving the living standards of serving and retired personnel and their families.
