In line with its monthly welfare programme, the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps Seva Vanitha Branch (SLAOC-SVB), in collaboration with the Army Ordnance Industries, Central Arms and Ammunition Depot and Army Clothing Depot, organised a tailoring workshop at the Army Ordnance Industries, Veyangoda on 25 July 2026.
The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Mrs Nirmalin Wijekoon, Chairperson of the SLAOC-SVB, with the support of Maj Gen W.M.S.N. Wijekoon ndc AATO, Quartermaster General and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps.
The workshop was conducted by Mrs Ajantha Priyanwadha Amarasinghe of Ajantha Textile. The programme included demonstrations on fabric cutting and sewing, followed by practical training sessions. It was designed to enhance participants' knowledge and practical tailoring skills while encouraging self-employment opportunities and promoting creativity, confidence and self-reliance.
An entertainment session was also organised during the event, with musical and Wushu performances adding colour and energy to the occasion. The day's programme concluded with a fellowship meal, marking the successful completion of the workshop.
