Children of the Viru Kekulu Pre Schools in Anuradhapura, Diyatalawa, Pallekele, Panagoda, Manning Town, Ipalogama, Galle, and Minneriya proudly organised and participated in Esala Perahera processions on 24 and 28 July 2026, commemorating one of Sri Lanka’s most revered cultural traditions.
The audience was captivated by the remarkable performances and creative displays of the children, adding grace and splendour to the Esala Perahera. The event featured traditional drummers, fire performers, flag bearers, ceremonial sesath (parasols), children dressed in traditional Nilame attire, and cultural dance performances, reflecting the rich heritage and religious significance of the occasion.
The Esala Perahera, also known as the Kandy Esala Perahera, is one of Sri Lanka’s most significant cultural and religious festivals, held annually during July and August in honour of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, enshrined at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy.
Adding further warmth to the celebrations, parents organised a dansal for the children. Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, parents, and well-wishers attended the event.
