Mrs. Vindya Premaratne assumed duties as the 18th President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at Army Headquarters, Colombo, on 06 August 2026.
Upon her arrival, the newly appointed President was welcomed by Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commander of the Army.
Thereafter, Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commander of the Army, together with the President of the ASVU and Chairpersons of Regimental Seva Vanitha Branches, posed for a group photograph to mark the occasion.
The assumption of duties was marked by solemn religious observances, including the chanting of Seth Pirith. Subsequently, Mrs. Vindya Premaratne officially assumed duties and placed her signature on an official document, marking the commencement of her tenure.
Following the ceremony, she interacted with senior officers, officers and other ranks, sharing views on the continued welfare initiatives of the ASVU in support of the Army family.

Mrs. Vindya Premaratne assumed office as the 18th President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) on 06 August 2026, upon the appointment of Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne RSP USP nps psc as the 26th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.
Born to Mr. C.A.R.V. Colonne and Mrs. P.P.I. Swarnalatha, Mrs. Premaratne is one of four siblings, with two sisters and one brother. She received her primary and secondary education at Beruwala Central College, where she completed her G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination. She subsequently pursued and completed her G.C.E. Advanced Level at Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya.
Mrs. Premaratne has been actively engaged in the welfare activities of the Army Seva Vanitha movement and currently serves as the President of the Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch.Through her leadership and continued involvement in welfare activities, she has gained valuable experience in supporting the wellbeing of soldiers and their families and promoting initiatives aimed at strengthening the welfare of the Army community.
As the 18th President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Premaratne is committed to further advancing the organization's welfare objectives while building upon its established values of compassion, service and dedication. She places emphasis on strengthening welfare initiatives, supporting the needs of serving personnel and their families, and promoting programmes that contribute towards their wellbeing and empowerment.
Drawing upon her experience in Seva Vanitha welfare activities and her commitment to service, Mrs. Premaratne looks forward to working closely with the 26th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Army leadership, Seva Vanitha Branches and the wider Army community to further strengthen the organization's contribution towards the welfare of soldiers, veterans and their families, while carrying forward the proud legacy of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit.
