 Diyatalawa ‘Viru Kekulu’ Kids Get New Shrine

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at the Army Headquarters, fulfilling a long-felt requirement of the kids learning in the Diyatalawa ‘Viru Kekulu’ pre-school, managed by the ASVU, laid the cornerstone for construction of a new shrine in the school premises on Thursday (14).

Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, President, ASVU taking the initiative in this regard laid the cornerstone and inaugurated the construction project at the auspicious minute this morning (14). Parents of the kids extending their support to the project have voluntarily collected a sum of Rs. 3 lakhs for the purpose while the remainder of the cost were to be borne by the ASVU.

The day’s Chief Guest, Mrs Senanayake on arrival at the venue was welcomed by two kids at the pre-school offering a bouquet of flowers. Amid chanting of Seth Pirith by members of the Maha Sangha, Mrs Senanayake laid the foundation stone for the new construction.

Major General Rukmal Dias, Commander, Security Forces - Central, Mrs Reka Senadheera, the ASVU Lady Official in charge of the ‘Viru Kekulu’ pre-school project, Mrs Tanuja Dias, Supervising Lady Official for Diyatalawa pre-school, several senior members of the ASVU, teachers, parents and kids in the pre-school were present during the inaugural ceremony.
