Children with Special Needs Provided Children’s Day Treat

2017-10-06 07:42:36

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) on account of the International Children’s Day (October 1) offered a special treat to a group of children of Army families with special needs, resident in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts, following an initiative taken by Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, President, ASVU.

To coincide with the Children’s Day, a group of 73 children with special needs along with their parents, were made to join hands with a large number of children who had gathered near Nuwara Eliya Gregory Lake to commemorate the International Children’s Day.

In addition to the facilitation of the tour for those children, the ASVU provided refreshments and lunch packets to all children and their parents attending Nuwara Eliya Children’s Day programme on that day.

Those children with special needs had a day of fun at Nuwara Eliya by enjoying boat rides, horse riding, fun-making games and other hobbies during their stay on the banks of Nuwara Eliya Gregory Lake.

Lieutenant Colonel Nalindra Mahavithana, Staff Officer 1 at the ASVU, together with several ASVU Officers and Other Rankers joined the programme.
