 Manning Town & Panagoda ‘Viru Kekulu’ Kids Show Colours During Combined Annual Concert

The year-end variety entertainment of the students in the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) - managed Manning Town and Panagoda ‘Viru Kekulu’ pre-schools, displayed aesthetic and artistic skills of the kids of both pre-schools on Friday (10) at the Colombo Bishop College auditorium.

Mrs. Shalini Waidyaratne, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence (MOD-SVU) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, President, ASVU and pre-school authorities.

Colourfully-dressed kids, symbolic of all ethnicities offering betel sheaves and flower bouquets welcomed the Chief Guest at the entrance to the auditorium.

The traditional oil lamp-lighting, observance of an one minute silence and a welcome speech made by Mrs Anusha Fernando, Project Coordinator ASVU pre-school project separately set the tone to the inauguration of the day’s agenda.

Kids of those two pre-schools during the entertainment showcased their artistic skills to amid striking applause of the gathering of parents, invitees and ASVU members in the auditorium.

The event, comprised of Pooja dances, folk songs and different cultural feats, drama songs, oriental and western dancing features attracted the attention of spectators.

ASVU executive committee members, Staff Officer 1, Lieutenant Colonel Nalindra Mahawithana, teachers, students together with parents of Army and civil sector families enjoyed the event.
