 33rd Seva Vanitha AGM Plans New Projects for Forthcoming Year

The 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), which has been engaged in numerous welfare measures for the benefit of war heroes and their families got underway at Grand Monarch Hotel in Thalawathugoda on Tuesday (21).

More than 200 Seva Vanitha chairpersons at all regimental levels and members in respective executive boards and other invitees took part in the landmark AGM, chaired by Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, President, ASVU who was also the Chief Guest for the event.

The meeting reviewed the series of welfare projects that were carried out by the ASVU in the current year after Mrs Senanayake took over duties.

The day’s proceedings commenced with a tribute dedicated to the memory of fallen War Heroes by observing a one-minute silence soon after the traditional oil lamp was lit. ASVU President, together with several ASVU past Presidents and invitees joined the traditional ritual.

Mrs Senanayake elaborating on the achievements that had been made in the previous year tabled a detailed report as regards all the projects implemented usefully and effectively and reminded the gathering of the future projects that need to be performed with equal commitment and dedication for the greater interest of all Army families.

Mrs Senanayake paid a glittering tribute to the ASVU members, delivering her key address to the occasion and commended the broad platform of understanding that prevails among all members of Seva Vanitha organizations.

The AGM, held with renewed vigour and full of spirits was also attended by past presidents and a large gathering of former Seva Vanitha executive members.

The ceremony kicked off with the recital of the ASVU song. A lecture delivered by an adviser on promotion of human skills, Ms Deshika Pushpakumari on ‘Conduct of Good Human Skills’ enlightened the gathering as one more segment of the meeting.

Since the founding of the ASVU in the year 1984, successive past Presidents and executive members have done their best for the organization and completed impressive welfare projects of different nature, aimed at improving the lives of our War Heroes.
