 Diyatalawa 'Viru Kekulu' Kids Get New Shrine in the Pre-school Premises

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at the Army Headquarters, fulfilling a long-felt requirement in the Diyatalawa ‘Viru kekulu’ pre-school, constructed a new shrine in the school premises and opened it on Wednesday (24) in a simple ceremony with the participation of Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, President, ASVU.

Parents of the kids extending their support to the project have voluntarily collected a sum of Rs 5 lakhs for the purpose while Corps of Engineer Services provided manpower for the project.

A new Buddha statue was brought to the new shrine in a Perahera and treasure troves were placed by Mrs Thanuja Dias before placing the Buddha statue. Major General Rukmal Dias, Commander, Security Forces - Central afterwards placed the new statue of Buddha in the new shrine.

Chairperson, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps SVU, Mrs Shiromi Liyanage, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment SVU, Mrs Sujeewa Wickramarathna and other senior members of the ASVU and Senior Officers participated in this event.

After the event, Mrs Chandrika Senanayake visited the pre-school and had a discussion with parents and children of the pre-school and thanked them for their contribution.
