 ASVU President Makes Special Donation to 'Mihindu Seth Medura'

In line with the customary annual visit of the Special Forces - Seva Vanitha Unit (SF-SVU), Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) and the Chairperson of the SF-SVU, together with a team of Seva Vanitha ladies went to the ‘Mihindu Seth Medura’ (wellness resort) at Attidiya on Wednesday (7) with a stock of special gifts.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment, SF also joined the ladies at Attidiya where a sophisticated automatic motor cycle was donated to one of the War Heroes, Staff Sergeant L.D Pushpakumara was donated considering his physical immobility.

During their stay at the ‘Mihindu Seth Medura’, Mrs Chandrika Senanayake and the Commander of the Army spoke to each inmate and shared a couple of views and pleasantries with them before special gift parcels were donated.

The auto-powered motor-bike worth about 3.5 lakhs was donated to Staff Sergeant L.D Pushpakumara of 11 Gemunu Watch (GW) during the occasion through the coordination done by Lieutenant Colonel Nalindra Mahawithana, Staff Officer I, ASVU. 

He sustained serious mortar attack injuries during fierce battles with LTTE terrorist in Mullaittivu and became in mobile.

During the visit, the Commander saw for himself how management of this sanatorium is conducted and medical therapy and rehabilitation processes are implemented for physical comfort and mental happiness of those war veterans.
