2018-02-09 21:41:45

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, together with the assistance of Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), President took steps to buy a stock of essentials for the proposed ‘Ranaviru Mapiya’ Elders’ Home and Resource Centre at Yakabedda in Akuressa, Matara.

The project, implemented by the Ranaviru Seva Authority (RVSA) with the objective of providing life-time care for underprivileged parents of fallen and disabled War Heroes, is to be a reality very soon with the inaugural opening of the Centre by HE the President.

Accordingly, the generosity extended by the ASVU enabled the purchase of beds, mattresses, cloth racks, cupboards, tables, dining tables and chairs, water purifiers, mirrors, plastic chairs, a radio and a wall clock, to the value of Rs 2 lakhs to the Centre.

The RVSA has launched the construction of this special centre for care and attention after research findings proved that some of the parents or single parent are leading extremely difficult lives due to various constraints, following the death of their beloved War Heroes.
