 Army Seva Vanitha Unit Holds its Own War Hero Programme

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit engaged in welfare programmes for the well-being of Army personnel conducted an alms-giving to the memory of War Heroes at Panagoda Bodhirajaramaya under the guidance of Mrs. Chandrika Senanayake, President Army Seva Vanitha Unit on Sunday (12).

This meritorious event has been conducted annually for the past 8 years. The alms -giving for 15 nuns (Dasasil Matha) was conducted in memory of fallen War Heroes and to invoke blessings and differently able War Heroes, the Commander of the Army, Officers, Other Rankers, their families and civil personnel serving in the Army.

The nuns from Madiwela monastery were invited to the alms hall in a colourful procession. Before the chief nun was invited for Anusasana (oration) and alms, a tray of betel was presented by the ASVU President as a traditional formality.

Soon after offering of the Buddha Pooja and observances, the nuns were offered alms by the Seva Vanitha Unit, President, Chairpersons, senior members of the Seva Vanitha Unit along with several Senior Army Officers and Other Rankers.
