The annual Maha Shiwarathri Puja was conducted at the Sella Katharagama Ganapathi Kovil at the night hours on 08 March 2024. A massive number of devotees from around the island witnessed the religious event throughout the day.
On the earnest request of Swami Imal Dissanayaka, the Chief Custodian of the Sella Katharagama Ganapathi Temple, General Officer Commanding 12 Infantry Division guided troops belong to 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 3 Sri Lanka National Guard to provide assistance on preparing meals for the devotees. Around 5000 Hindu and Buddhist devotees were offered dinner and water at the temple premises.
