Troops deployed in the Southern Province made unceasing assistance to thousands of families based in Matara District who are being affected during the adverse weather condition prevailing in the Southern Region of the island.
As directed by Army Headquarters, troops deployed under 12 Infantry Division of Security Force (Central) conducted floods – relief operations in Malimbada area of Matara District, and provided humanitarian assistance to a number of 5000 displaced civilians. The flood affected persons were temporary sheltered at Matara Central College and were provided cooked meal packets from the Army-maintained temporary kitchen at the Malimbada Divisional Secretariat.
