Mr. Josef Pfanner , 76 years old tourist from Germany, went missing at the Koslanda area during the evening hours on 14 February 2024. The management of the Melheim Resort, Haputale requested assistance of the Sri Lanka Army in order to rescue the missing German guest who had left the resort for jogging and wandering.
Rapidly responding the earnestness, Commander Security Force (Central) Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc guided under command troops to rescue the strayed foreigner and ensure his security. Number of troops from Security Force Headquarters (Central) made their way to rescue the tourist amidst bad light and adverse weather conditions during the night and dawn. With the daybreak of 15 February, the missing German returned safely to his resort at Haputale, and commended the determined effort made by the army members to rescue him. The German national appreciated the army’s presence since he had gone missing, and paid gratitude to the troops for rapidly responding to safeguard the tourists those visit the Sri Lanka.
