On 6 April 25 train services on the Badulla-Colombo railway line were disrupted between Idalgashinna and Ohiya stations due to heavy rainfall causing soil and rock slides onto the tracks.
Following a request from the Disaster Management Center to 112 infantry brigade, a contingent of 01 x 20 soldiers from the 23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was deployed. The team commenced operations to clear the obstructions on the railway line on 7 April 25 around 2000 hours.
The personnel successfully completed the task and reported back to the unit on 08 April 25 at 05.56 hours.
