Since the landslide red alert issued for Kelipanawela - Haldummula area, Haldummulla Divisional Secretariat made necessary initiatives to shift 31 residing families to safe shelters with the assistance of Army and Police on 11 December 2023.
Major General Mahinda Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP, the overlooking Commander Security Force (Central) and General Officer Commanding 11 Infantry Division made a site visit to the disaster prone area in Kelipanawela on 13 December 2023 in order to inquire the present status of the earth slip risk and what support could be given from the Army in assistance of the disaster affected community.
Brigadier General Staff, Commander 112 Infantry Brigade, Senior Staff Officers and troops accompanied the senior officer during the journey.
