CENTRAL TROOPS EVACUATE INJURED PASSENGERS AT WATAWALA

A number of 18 persons were injured when an SLTB bus, plying from Colombo to Nuwara Eliya, veered off the road and plunged down a precipice at Watawala, in the morning hours on 01 August 2023. As the bus slid off the road, troops of 19th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard rushed to the spot and evacuated the passengers safely. The injured passengers were admitted to Watawala Base Hospital while five of the injured were transferred to Nawalapitiya Hospital.
