CENTRAL TROOPS FURTHER FIGHT WILDFIRES IN MANY AREAS

Being one of the first responders in natural disasters, troops under Security Force (Central) made unceasing commitment to control wildfire occurred in many areas in Central and Uva provinces during the past few days.

In the night hours of Friday, 21 July 2023 troops of 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment endured to dose fires ignited in Mullapihilla, Galatenna of Kandy District.

On the following day, 22 July 2023, troops of 112 Infantry Brigade rushed to Alugolla area in Badulla and successfully controlled the wildfire that destroyed few acres of vegetation.

The wildfire occurred in Kaluambatenna, Aluthwela, that destroyed nearly 500 acres of flora was battled by the firefighters belong to 3rd Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment deployed at the security force headquarters, on Sunday 23 July 2023

On the same day troops of Internal Security troops of the security force headquarters dosed wildfire ignited by a power line in Haggala area. The troops of 112 Infantry Brigade in Badulla hustled their way to Attalapitiya area and controlled the wildfire blown over many acres of vegetation, with the coordinated effort of Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Police. Additional Army troops from security force affiliated battalions reported to the location as fires intensified. The evening of Sunday, invited the brave firefighters of security force headquarters to dose the wildfire blown in Haldummulla area.

Rapid responses of the central troops were made under the guidance of Commander Security Force (Central) Major General WWHRRVMNDKB Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc. Army troops affiliated with the members of Sri Lanka Police in controlling wildfires.<
