CENTRAL TROOPS WELCOME THE NEW COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (CENTRAL)

Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc took over duties as the 18th Commander of Security Force (Central) on 10 January 2024. Troops of Security Force Headquarters (Central) customary welcomed the commander at the colorful parade held in the morning. The new commander accomplished formalities of assuming duties at his office, amidst religious blessings. After planting a tree sapling to mark the event, he posed for a group photograph with senior officers and staff of the headquarters. The all ranks tea party followed the troops address of the new commander.

Major General Rohitha Aluvihare is a proud product of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, and an outstanding officer from Intake 31 of the Sri Lanka Military Academy. Being a member of the victorious Vijayabahu Regiment, he was recognized for his bravery and the yeoman service rendered to the Sri Lanka Army. During his illustrious military career spans over 35 years, he has held many the many command, staff, and instructional appointments performing duties in various capacities.

He rendered his service in different locations under diverse capacities as the Commander of the 571 and 553 Infantry Brigades and also as the General Officer Commanding of 58 and 11 Infantry Divisions. Besides many military courses, he has followed non-military courses held in Sri Lanka and Foreign countries. This senior officer is a graduate of the National Defense University of China, Defence Services Command and Staff College, Sapugaskanda, and has obtained his Master’s Degree in Defence Studies at the University of Kelaniya. Major General Rohitha Aluvihare is married to Mrs. Thushara Yatiwawala and blessed with two daughters.

He assumed duties as Commander Security Force (Central), after relinquishing duties as Adjutant General at Army Headquarters.
