The train operations along the upcountry railway line was interrupte due to a slight earth slip near the rail gate at 5th Mile Post, Haliela - Uduwara on 10 December 2023.
Responding to the disaster situation, troops belongs to 112 Infantry Brigade headed towards the railway track, and made a enduring effort to clear the passage that was covered with soil mounds and rocks. The railway department members backed the trooops to restore the normal train operations.
