Sri Dalanda Maligawa in Kandy is the most sacred religious place of the Buddhists and the Esala Perahera is one of the main events organized annually at Sri Dalanda Maligawa. Since this sacred place is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central), the security and other coordinating tasks of the perahera are done by the troops of SF (Cen). Accordingly, on 19 August 2018 General Officer Commanding of 11 Division, Major General T J Nanayakkara RWP USP ndu observed the progress of the scheduled events in which military assistance is provided.
At this observation tour the GOC of 11 Division, observed the Operation room which established for the security purposes and the security measures which are to be taken. Further, he visited the places where meals for the staff of the Dalanda Maligawa are made and served.
