MAJOR GENERAL SAMANTHA SILVA HANDS OVER DUTIES

Troops of Security Force (Central) bid farewell to outgoing Commander Security Force (Central) on 07 November 2022. Major General Samantha Silva RWP RSP ndu was accorded a guard of honour during the farewell parade organized by the troops, and the Farewell Party was followed by troops address and All Ranks tea party.

The Senior Officer who has completed 35 years of yeoman service, is from the distinguished Armoured Regiment of Sri Lanka Army. During the trying times the Senior Officer has made tremendous commitment to safeguard the integrity of the motherland, and had served selflessly towards the nation.

During his tenure as Commander Security Force (Central), he has initiated many Operational and Non operational ventures to assure security and social welfare within the Area of Responsibility in Central highlands and Southern region. With his conceptual guidelines the troops under his command were able to prompt many community oriented welfare projects such as House construction for homeless, distribution of scholarships and stationery packs for the budding generation, donation of spectacles and healthcare consignments, donation of sports equipment to benefit sports clubs, conducting educational programmes to uplift the standards of education, distribution of crops and seedlings to upgrade agriculture projects, and further distribution of essential ration packs to aid deserving communities during the crucial times.

Major General Samantha Silva, an Officer and Gentlemen, created a comfortable working environment to all his under command troops and was humble enough to address all requirements of his command. General Officers Commanding of 11 & 12 Infantry Divisions, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (Central), Senior Staff Officers, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Officers and Troops made their presence to honour the retiring Senior Officer and to bid farewell.
