MILITARY ASSISTANCE FOR A TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN

Military personnel assisted the tree planting campaign which was organized by the Urban Development Authority. This campaign was named as “SahasakThuru” and launched in parallel with the island wide tree planting progammes. The inauguration ceremony of this programme was taken place with the participation of the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Mr Patali Champika Ranawake at 0830 hours on 09 August 2018 at the land located in front of the Training School of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) at Gannoruwa.

Further, the troops at SLEME Training School assisted this campaign to plant the saplings of 50 Kumbuk and Mee, on the direction and supervision of theGeneral Officer Commanding of 11 Division of the Security Forces (Central), Major General T J Nanayakkara RWP USP ndu.
