The Bridge which constructed across the Katupila Area in Yala is now being used by thousands of devotees to cross the difficult area without any inconvenience. The newly built bridge has become more useful to all the travellers and it ensures the convenient movement and security of the pilgrims as well as the mobility of the vehicles used for the important administration matters pertinent to the above event.
The ultimate purpose of this construction is also to facilitate the pilgrims who are undertaking the annual Pada Yatra or foot pilgrimage through Yala National Park to Katharagama experiencing a lot of hardships in order to attend the Esala festival that falls in the month of July every year.
With the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG and the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 12 Division, Major General N D Wanniarachchi WWV RWP RSP USP ndc, this bridge was constructed by the 6 Fd Engineers Regiment with the assistance of the troops under command to 122 Brigade.
