A sudden fire occurred in Punchi Sripada (Mini Adam’s peak) in the general area Ella which is popular among tourists due to the scenic beauty of the area. Further, the mentioned area is located within the responsible area of Security Forces Headquarters (Central). Considering the damage which might have occurred in the forest reserve and on the tourist industry of the area, the troops of this headquarters were tasked to control the fire on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG on 08 July 2018.
A team consisting of one officer and twenty five soldiers rushed to the place and took prompt actions to douse the wild fire completely. The reason for the fire has not been revealed yet.
