A cleaning programme was launched in the Kandy District aiming to clean the city prior to the Esala Perahera by the military personnel on the direction of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC and the supervision of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias USP ndc psc IG on 06 August 2018. This programme was named “The Environment is Worshipful” (Parisaraya Pujaniyai) in which 02 officers and 60 soldiers from 11 Division and its under command training schools actively contributed to conclude this cleaning programme successfully.
Further, the Chief Minister of Central Province Hon. Sarath Ekanayake also participated in this programme along with the members of the government and non government organizations, the representatives of Police as well as Civil Defence Force.
