TROOPS IN DIYATALAWA LAUNCH SHRAMADANA CAMPAIGNS

Shramadana campaigns were launched by the troops of Security Forces (Central) with the instructions and supervision of Major General G R H Dias USP ndu psc IG, the Commander Security Forces (Central), on 12 December 2017 in order to make the garrison city of Diyatalawa, a garbage free pleasant area. This community project was started from 'Y' junction in Haputale and it cleaned the entrance to Diyatalawa town as well as its suburbs with the participation of 10 officers and 200 soldiers from Security Forces Headquarters (Central) Army Trg Comd (ARTRAC), Marksmanship and Sniper Training School(MSTS), Volunteer Force Training School(VFTS), 7 Sri Lanka Signal Corps(7 SLSC), 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch, 17 Engineer Services Regiment(17 ESR), 7 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police(7 SLCMP), 8 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (8 SLASC) and 2(V) Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers(2 (V) SLEME).

Further, the Haputale Pradeshiya Sabha also assisted by providing labours and 2 tractors to transport the garbage to proper places. The effort which was taken by the Military personnel for the betterment of nature was appreciated by the general public.
