TROOPS RESCUED STUDENTS WHO LOST THEIR WAY

The students of NSBM University who came with the purpose of camping had lost their way back from camping site at Wangedigalakanda area in Bambarakanda located in the Divisional Secretariat Haldummulla due to prevailed bad weather condition on 27 February 2018. Haldummulla Police requested military assistance to launch rescue missions.

Responding to that request the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General GRH Dias USP ndc psc IG, instructed for the mission to launch rescue missions. Accordingly, 1 Officer and 10 Soldiers from this Headquarters were tasked around 2330 hours on 27 February 2018 despite the extreme cold and bad weather condition. Around 0235 hrs on following day troops were able to trace the students and bring them to the downhill safely at 1030 hrs without any injuries. On the same day around 1030 hours they have handed over the students to Haldummulla Police.
