Due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, a number of 149 people residing in Makaldeniya, Koslanda area of Badulla District were affected and displaced from the threatening landslide scenes during the evening hours on 14 October 2023.
At the first notice of the disaster situation disaster-relief troops belongs to the Security Force Headquarters Central promptly responded to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected community, following the directives of Major General WWHRRVMNDKB Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander Security Force Central. The relief operation shifted the displaced civilians to Badulla/Ganesha Tamil School through the untiring effort of Army troops.
