TROOPS WERE LECTURED ON AVOIDING DEPRESSION.

A lecture has been conducted on Depression and how it cause to commit suicide by the Psychological Counselor and Physician Doctor Chaminda De Alwis Weerasiriwardane on 30 January 2018 at Torch Cinema Hall of Sri Lanka Military Academy which is under the Security Forces (Central). In accordance with the directions of the Commander of the Army and the instructions of the Directorate of Psychological Operations this was organized.

The motive of this lecture was to make aware the Military Personnel on depression which transforms the soldiers even to commit suicide since they could not understand the real situation which they are in. Further, the doctor emphasized that these soldiers tend to select the committing suicide as the best option for certain unbearable circumstances and this decision is totally based on disappointment and the depression. Avoiding such circumstances, understanding of the problem and face it confidently would be the solutions for these.

With the instructions of the Commander Security Forces (Central), 15 officers and 300 other ranks from Army Training Command (ARTRAC), Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS), Marksmanship and Sniper Training School (MSTS), 7 Sri Lanka Signal Corps( 7SLSC), 17 Engineer Services (17ESR), 8 Sri Lanka Service Corps (8 SLSC), 7 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (7SLCMP), 2(V) Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (2(V)SLEME)) participated in the lecture.
