Security Forces Headquarters (Central) organized a simple ceremony to mark the first working day of the New Year, on 01 January 2021. Major General H P N K Jayapathirane RSP, Commander Security Forces (Central), Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) participated in the ceremony held at the headquarters premises. The national flag and the Security Forces (Central) flag were hoisted and it was followed by singing of National Anthem and the Army song. Thereafter, two minutes silence was observed in commemoration of fallen War Heroes. The State Service Commitment Pledge as well as the message of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc were read by Major A M S Alahakoon of Sri Lanka National Guards.
Afterwards, the Commander Security Forces (Central) addressed the troops and wished them a healthy prosperous new year and subsequently, Commander participated in the all rank tea along with all the Officers of SFHQ (Central).
