A two-day workshop on ‘Military in Internal Security Operations’ (MISO) was successfully concluded at the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) on 02 July 2025. The workshop was commenced on 01 July 2025, under the guidance of Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the Commander Security Forces (Central).
The programme was organized with the direction given by the Directorate of Legal Services HumanRights and Humanitarian Law in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which mainly focused on comprehensive exploration on decision making capacity of officersin the context of law enforcement operations, use of force and fire arms, arrest and detention.
This workshop was led by Brigadier General (Retired) Lloyd Gillett OBE, (Regional delegates to the armed forces of South Asia of the ICRC) together with Mr. Channa Jayawaradana (Armed and Security Programme Advisor of Sri Lanka at the ICRC).
Thirty senior officers and officers, including Brigade Commanders, Senior Staff Officers, and Commanding Officers under Security Forces Headquarters (Central) actively participated in the workshop, while sharing and exploring their knowledge on the subject. At the end of the workshop a token of appreciation was shared between ICRC delegates and SFHQ (Central) to mark the significance of the event.
