The newly renovated Buddha Bodhi Mandir at the Headquarters premises of the 122 Infantry Brigade was ceremonially declared open on 17 August 2025, providing a sacred place of worship for officers and other ranks
This noble initiative was conceptualized by the Commander of the 122 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier BDTD Jayaratne psc, and carried out under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Central), Major General KAWNH Bandaranayaka USP, together with the General Officer Commanding of the 12 Infantry Division, Major General HTW Vidyananda RWP RSP USP.
The project was made possible through the labour contribution of all ranks from the 122 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, the 12th Battalion Gajaba Regiment, and the 3rd Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, which are under command to the Brigade.
The complete financial sponsorship was generously provided by the Most Venerable Kobawaka Dhamminda Thero, His Highness Venerable of Ruhunu Magam Pattuwe and the Chief Incumbent & Trustee of the Historical Katharagama Kiriwehera Raja Maha Viharaya.
The opening ceremony was attended by a large gathering of officers, soldiers, and invitees, who joined together to mark this significant occasion and invoke blessings for the Brigade and its personnel.
