Due to the adverse weather conditions that prevailed across the island over the past few days, troops under the Headquarters 12 Infantry Division of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) deployed in the 122 Infantry Brigade area, carried out disaster relief and restoration operations in the flood-affected Kataragama area.
Accordingly on 02 December 2025, a contingent of 02 × 50 troops from the 3 SLNG conducted cleaning and purification work at the Kataragama Puja bumiya Premises, which had been polluted as a result of the floods, restoring the area to its proper condition. In addition, a team of 01 × 15 troops from the same battalion was deployed to clean and restore several contaminated wells within the brigade area, successfully completing the tasks.
Meanwhile 08 members from the Brigade Headquarters cutting and removing fallen trees that had posed a threat to the civilian population within the Hambantota Divisional Secretariat area.
Furthermore, on 02 December 2025, under the direction of the 122 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, troops distributed drinking water to the displaced residents within the Kataragama Divisional Secretariat area as part of the ongoing relief efforts
