Headquarters 224 Brigade was formed at SOORANGAL on 25 August 2011 in order to control the civil unrest taken place in KINNIYA. Initial Bns of the Bde were 12 GR and 24 VIR. Then 5 (V) SLA det from HQ 222 Bde and amalgamated with HQ 224 Bde.
While 24 VIR and 5 (V) SLA were performing duties in Bde AOR 12 GR kept as AHQ reserve. Further, when 24 VIR det from this Bde 15 SLLI att to the Bde on 17 February 2012. Moreover, Bde re - deployed at THOPUR on 17 November 2012.
According to the re - deployment plan of HQ 22 Div, HQ 224 Bde deployed at KATTAPARICHCHAN on 18 August 2016 and 5 (V) SLA deployed at SEENIPURA under HQ 222 Bde . Furthermore, 24 SLNG det from HQ 222 Bde and re - deployed at THOPUR, under this Bde.
Presently 15 SLLI and 24 SLNG Bns are performing duties under HQ 224 Bde.
