In response to the request from management of 16 Hospitals in the Polonnaruwa district which were affected due to the strike conducted by trade unions of minor staff in the health sector on 16 January 2024 the troops of the 7 Light Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, 9 Light Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery and 12 Battalion the Gemunu Watch which under command to the 231 and 233 Infantry Brigades have been deployed to ensure the smooth functioning of essential health services within the 23 Infantry Division Area, under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - East and the General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division.
