233 BRIGADE LAUNCHED A PROGRAMME TO CONSERVE BEACHES AND LAGOONS IN VAKARAI
233 Brigade with the guidance of 23 Division launched a tree planting programme in Vakarai to protect its beaches and lagoons. Commencing the project General Officer Commanding 23 Division Brig BVDP Abeynayake USP ndu and Commander 233 Brigade Col JMC Jayaweera RSP psc along with the officers and soldiers of 18 SLNG planted 40 coconut saplings, 20 twisted pines and 150 mangrove plants. The project will continue throughout the exposed beaches and lagoons in the Vakarai area.
