6 REGIMENT OF SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS CONSTRUCTED A NEW HOUSE FOR DESERVING FAMILY IN KITHULUTHUWA, MORAWEWA

In accordance with the noble vision of Commander Security Forces Headquarters (East), Major General Prasanna Gunarathne RSP ndu psc IG, with the coordination of the General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division and the generous financial support of Mr. U Anuradha Kothalawala from No. 23 Wijerama Mawatha, Udahamulla, the foundation stone for a new house was laid on 12 January 2024. This initiative aimed to provide a new home for Mr. GR Chaminda Kumara, a resident of No 10, Kithuluthuwa, Morawewa, under the guidance of The Commander 223 Infantry Brigade Commanding Officer 6 Regiment Sri Lanka Armored Corps, all officers and the dedicated labor of other ranks.

The construction of the house was completed efficiently within three months. On the auspicious day of 9 April 2024, Mr. G R Chaminda Kumara and his family gratefully received this gift from the General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division Major General P A M Peiris RSP USP psc, and Mr. U Anuradha Kothalawala. During the house handover, Mr. Kothalawala further demonstrated his commitment to social responsibility by distributing dry ration bags to 25 disadvantaged families in the area.

The Ceremony was honoured Commander 22 Infantry Division as the chief guest and Mr. U Anuradha Kothalawala as the guest of honour graced the ceremony. Other distinguished attendees included The Commander of the 223 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer 6 Regiment SLAC, Commanding Officer 15th Bn SLLI, 2IC SLAF Camp Morawewa, Divisional Secretary Morawewa, Secretary Urban Council Morawewa and OIC Morawewa Police Station.

This endeavor not only provided essential housing but also exemplified the spirit of collaboration and community support among military personnel, civilians and local authorities in the Morawewa area.
